You do not need admin access at all. Pink Narwhal connects through your panel's standard client API key (Pterodactyl and Pelican both work). We compress your files, download them, and store them on Cloudflare R2. No panel modifications, no special eggs, no admin involvement at any step.

Pterodactyl API and Pelican API are the primary options. Both use your standard client API key. We also support SFTP for servers that are not on a supported panel. Every connection method gets the same backup engine, the same storage, and the same restore tools.

Nope. Backups run while your server is live. Files are compressed on the server before download, so your game keeps running. Restores are a different story though. We stop the server before restoring to avoid save corruption, then start it back up when we are done.

Checkpoint™ coordinates with your game server before each backup to make sure files are in a clean, stable state. No mid-write saves, no half-flushed worlds. It kicks in automatically on Panel API connections where we detect a supported game (our smart profiles). Custom profiles and SFTP connections still get the same backup engine and storage, they just skip the pre-backup coordination step.

That is actually the most common reason people find us. Your panel's built-in backup system respects that limit. Pink Narwhal does not use it at all. We work through the file API instead, so host-imposed backup limits are irrelevant.

Way less than you think. We skip the engine binaries, asset bundles, and Steam files that make up the vast majority of disk usage. Those are reinstallable. Your saves, configs, and plugins are not. That is what we back up.

Yes. Every backup includes a full manifest of what was captured. When you restore, you can browse that manifest like a file tree and pick exactly what you want. Restore a single plugin config without touching your world save, or pull back just one map file.

We have smart profiles for Rust, Minecraft, DayZ, and Hytale that auto-detect the game and know which files matter. But Pink Narwhal works with any game server you can connect to through a panel API. If we do not have a profile for your game yet, you can browse your files and pick what to back up manually.

That is what the custom profile builder is for. When you add a server and we cannot detect the game, you get a file browser that lets you pick exactly which folders to back up. Name it whatever you want, pick your saves and configs, and you are set. Same hourly backups, same Cloudflare R2 storage, same restore tools.

Absolutely. Pink Narwhal backs up anything you can connect to through a panel API. Discord bots, websites, databases, whatever you are running. Create a custom profile, pick the folders you care about, and you get the same automated backups and restore tools as any game server.

Yes. We support SFTP as a fallback for servers not on a supported panel. You need the host, port, username, and either a password or key. Once connected, build a custom profile to pick which folders to back up.

Backups are stored on Cloudflare R2 with encryption in transit. SFTP credentials and API keys are encrypted at rest. We never access your server outside of scheduled backup windows. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

When you connect a server we cannot auto-detect, the custom profile builder kicks in. Give your profile a name, browse through your server's folders, and check the ones you want backed up. That is it. Every scheduled backup uses those paths going forward. You can pick deeply nested folders too, not just top-level directories.

Nothing. Your backups are on R2, not on your host. Switch hosts, set up a new connection to your new server, restore from any previous backup. Your data follows you.
